A trading mentor is someone who can help you narrow your focus and teach you trading strategies. Typically, this is someone who knows the actual trading industry and helps less experienced traders. Why would someone need a mentor to start day trading? The reason is that more than 80% of all people who start trading don’t succeed. The other reason is that traders lose money, and they want to learn ways to turn losses into wins. You will come across several mentorship programs online claiming that they can help traders achieve profit in their day trading journey.
If you were training to be a basketball player, would you rather be trained by LeBron James or DerMarr Johnson? LeBron has won four NBA championships, four NBA MVP awards, four NBA Finals MVP awards, and two Olympic gold medals. DerMarr has spent most of his career on the bench, and for four seasons shot below 41 percent. I would think we would all agree that LeBron would be the ideal mentor. The same applies to day trading, you should get the right day trading mentor who has the experience and the day trading skills to make you successful. Thankfully, you are in the right place and found the correct mentor with a trading career.
What Would I Need to Work On?
There are multiple things that you will need to learn to be a successful day trader. But you must also be willing to be a good student first. A good student has a growth mindset, sets goals, and is able to deal with failure. You must also be willing to put in the work and practice on your own time. Repetition along with knowledge is what makes you proficient in any aspect of your life. Attitude towards what you are doing affects your performance as well. Every student can do better if they practice a healthy routine.
There are multiple things that you will need to learn to be a successful day trader. A mentor will help you learn those things and help them make sense to you. They will also introduce you to different aspects of trading just so you are knowledgeable about it but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will need to use them daily. You will need to learn about the market in general, technical analysis, price analysis, paper trading, volume, trading patterns, fundamental analysis, strategy, trading psychology, money management, how to open a trading account, how to use the trading system and platform, and risk management. A mentor will also teach you things to avoid and how to overcome issues in your trading journey.
What to Look for In a Mentor?
